Our Home Far Away From Home

If we live in a desert long long time a go, sometimes we just have to eat what we can find, such as cactus. In Spanish they call it nopalitanos.

In Mexico today, cactus fruits (called tunas) and the leaves are one of their daily food. They mix 'em in beef stew, omelet, tortilla and stir fry them. Pure and simple this green stuff do not have aroma or taste. When we eat something with cactus in it, we wouldn't even know.

The fruit taste sweet. They sell them everywhere. I can eat them unless don't like the seeds all over the flesh. Rasanya manis-manis anyep, jadi gak legit sama sekali.

One of my friend asked if I like cactus. I said: I cannot say as I don't hate it and I can't like it. No taste, no smell. So...who wants to try?

aduh, agak laen. Lidah buaya itu dibuat manisan kan, jadi kenyal gitu. Kalo kaktus getahnya kaya lidah buaya (bikin males masaknya), tapi kalo udah dimasak, kriuknya mirip buncis.
